The Bar serves as a destination for guests of Hasbrouck House as well as locals from the surrounding communities. A thoughtful selection of local wine, beer, cider and spirits is offered, along with seasonal cocktails. We invite our guests to engage in lively conversation in one of our custom leather banquettes, or around the marble topped bar.

For adventure seekers, the rock scramble along the Bonticou Crag trail is a challenge worth taking for the breathtaking views at the top. New Paltz is the ideal spot to grab a post-hike bite (we like Huckleberry) and while there, you can peruse the boutiques and antique shops of Water Street Market. Residing guests also receive complimentary hiking passes to Mohonk Preserve, access to Whole Sky Yoga Studio and Ridgewell Fitness Center, plus excursions for craft beer tastings at Arrowood Farms. Nearby, Mohonk Preserve, Minnewaska State Park, and Catskill Mountains offer extraordinary hiking and sight seeing. One of our favorite hikes to do in winter is to the frozen Awosting Falls, where a minute stroll takes visitors to the foot of a six-story waterfall. From there, hikers can climb a steep hill leading to Lake Awosting; if you’re not up for the climb, you can also drive up.

With a light dusting of snow, Hasbrouck House feels especially cozy, with its layers on layers of rich texture, a stone fireplace, heated bathroom floors, Aesop toiletries, and luxurious Frette bed linens and robes. Bundle up and borrow snowshoes for a short hike to a frozen pond, then book a massage or private yoga session in the wellness room. Or, simply unwind next to the fireplace in the Club Room with a cocktail and a board game. The historic property features an expanded collection of elegant, yet understated suites with well curated amenities.
The restoration preserved the historic integrity of the property while providing modern accommodations and amenities. The centerpiece of the hotel is an 18th-century Dutch colonial stone mansion, which houses many of the guestrooms as well as the farm-to-table restaurant, Butterfield. Nearby are the carriage and stable houses where some of the other rooms are located. The Classic Rooms in the Hasbrouck House are spacious with large windows that overlook the front lawn and towering evergreens. Both rooms feature a king size bed with big beautiful bathrooms and marble heated floors. Just as magical as the building itself are the 55 wooded acres that the four-building compound sits on, plus the neighboring apple orchard and pond.
Situated on 50 park-like acres, there is so much to do right on-site at Hasbrouck House. The property features a groomed walking trail and a private lake with a dock – a great hidden hangout from the rest of the hotel. Butterfield is a true farm-to-table dining experience, as the restaurant sources its ingredients from local Hudson Valley farmers.
He also revitalized an abandoned smokehouse that was left on the property, which allows him to serve up slow cooked meats. Lucky for us, the best meal around here is Butterfield, Hasbrouck House’s on-site restaurant. Its name is a reference to the rich, fertile fields the settlers found when farming the region, dating back hundreds of years. Now in its third year, the menu is better than ever, and pays homage to the Hudson Valley by featuring tons of local ingredients and meats. Hasbrouck House offers free day passes to the nearby Mohonk Preserve, a stunning nature preserve with sweeping views of the Catskills that makes for a great day of hiking.
Check out Mohonk Preserve, too, where admission is normally $15 but free with a Hasbrouck House day pass. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your reservation time may incur a fee of $50.00 per guest. For more, Hasbrouck House has compiled the ultimate guide to help guests navigate the area in every season. If you’re interested in learning about what else the property has in store for guests, be sure to check out the Hasbrouck House Guide for where to eat, drink, shop, and play in and around the area.
The staff puts a lot of value in the property’s rich heritage and position in the Hudson Valley region, highlighting all that the area has to offer by partnering with local makers on its food, drink, + more. Our two balcony suites are situated in the main building just above the bar and restaurant so you'll never have to travel far for food or drink. These bright and airy rooms have a queen bed, feature a lovely sitting area and of course, have historic Dutch Colonial balconies to enjoy. The Club Room, located in the main building of Hasbrouck House, offers a stylish lounge for guests to gather for cocktails, conversation, games or to simply sink into a chair with a good book. Layers of rich texture under beautiful statement light fixtures provide a cozy place to relax.
